Travel Madness Resolved!

I echo all of the platitudes that have been deservedly heaped on you. My quest in life, is for the perfect travel bag. I travel around the world and I am notorious for thinking I have lost passports, tickets, and have melt downs in airports all of the time. I also travel with my three children who are older, but not old enough to carry their own documents. My requirements are: Outside zip pocket for tickets and boarding passes, inside zip for passports, it must go over my shoulder because I can't hand carry, must fit magazines, a water bottle, and usual "stuff", it has to have a fully closeable zipper top, the bag cannot be too heavy empty because by the time I have gotten to the last gate at the airport, my shoulder will be lopsided, and I am always at the last gate. And I'd like it for under $2,000.00.

I am not particular about color. Shoppers haven't worked for me because things fall to the bottom. I gave serious consideration to Chloe's Betty, but it is just to heavy. Also, the Chloe store here has the Edith bags in stock....approx $1,300.00 for a med sized one. I am truly desperate, and have a 12 flight summer coming up. I NEED this bag!

Stop The Insanity!!

We keep getting comments and emails asking where to buy fakes, which outlets sells the most "realistic" fakes, which ebay sellers sell real vs. fake, etc. and we have not responded simply because none of this is legitimate. We feel like we need to respond now because it is getting out of control. We do not condone buying fakes and we absolutely DO NOT recommend buying bags on ebay because it is hard to authenticate. The only place to buy bags is through authorized dealers.Net A Porter is the authorized online retailer for Chloe but Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue andBergdorf Goodman also carry it. These are the ONLY places you should go to buy Chloe. Do we need to remind you of the Sophisticated Spirit debacle? If you need more of a reason, here is a comment we just received:

"Oh no... my bag came... most hideous (Paddington) knockoff I have ever laid eyes on. Not to scare anyone who has ordered from ebay, but i wouldn't recommend it for the future. The photograph on ebay wasn't even legitimate (and obviously, neither was the seller). The bag is orange vinyl, the gold paint is chipping off the hardware and the 'serial number' is on a white price sticker. The seller has relocated to China."

We really hate to see unsuspecting shoppers buy a fake especially because if they are selling it as real, you are still paying a lot of money for it. And for those Chinatown shoppers, it doesn't matter how "real" your fake is, the main reason to have nice things is that they are.... well, nice. You know it's fake and how awkward is it to lie about your fake, or worse having to admit that it is a fake when you are caught!designer handbags

Wet Bikini Bag

I own several beach/summer tote bags because I practically live at the Soho House pool in the summer and like to keep a change of outfit in my bag in case friends call to meet up for drinks. My problem is I don't know what to do with my wet bathing suit! I've been keeping it inside a plastic bag in my purse which is totally gross and trashy but it beats sitting in rush hour traffic to get to my apartment in mid-town to change. JPG vs Tod's

I love your website and all that you do to keep us informed of the latest bag offerings. I also like the looks of the JPG crossbody bag that you just featured. Tell me though, you have mentioned in the past how some of the spendy designer bags' workmanship does not hold up to everyday wear while others do. Will the JPG bag hold up as well as my Tod's bag? I definitely love the idea of this bag for travel (tired of juggling everything in my hands) as well as everyday wear.

Thanks for loving us!! We love to be loved =) The JPG bag is fantastic. I had a JPG bag for years and it held up pretty well, but if you want to compare it to a Tod's you will be disappointed. Tod's bags are made entirely for quality, not necessarily style, that's why all their bags are so classic and let's be honest, plain, but in a good way. If you are looking for glamour and flash, you will not find it with Tod's. But I think the JPG bag will last you as long as you want to use it. You won't be passing it down to future generations but it will not fail you.

Zagliani Lace Leather Bag

Zagliani is known for innovation in material and skin so it is entirely appropriate for them to do a novelty bag like this one with lace detail. Look at the intricacy and precision of how the leather is folded and turned and sewn to get the perfect lace effect. I mean, as a whole, the bag is a bit too busy and frou frou for my taste but it is incredibly impressive to look at. Like a museum piece, you ohh and ahh but wouldn't exactly have the need to take home a marble statue of a naked man (but that's just me). I just can't believe the technical craftsmanship of this bag! At first I surely thought it would be actual lace! But of course it would fall apart if you got it caught on something. Even with this one though, you should probably heed extreme caution when using it. At Browns Fashion for $5,875.

It is so much fun going through all the bags in there, especially the vintage pieces that you either reminisce about or surprised that you've never seen. It is one of my favorite things to do with a girlfriend on a shopping trip (even more fun after lunch and a cold glass of pinot grigio!). If you cannot wait, this is the place to go for an unquestionably authentic Birkin or Kelly. Most are in mint condition. The blue jean 30 togo in the picture above is $7995 - if you shop online, there are detailed pictures of every part of the bag. You will also find limited edition bags that is impossible to find anywhere else, like the Chanel Paris in NY Woman Handbag Tote ($2150) from the 2006 Fall collection that is brand new, the price tag is still on it! They also offer a consignment service for people who want to sell their bags. Last year's favorite bag can either continue to collect dust or it can help pay for your latest must have =)

Alexander McQueen Leather Woven Wishbone Shopper

I’ll admit it, someone got me on April Fool’s Day. It was my good friend since preschool, Dania. She posted a facebook status saying that she was engaged, and since she moved away last year I knew she had started dating someone seriously, so I totally bought it. It’s hard to get me, and she totally had me fooled – I even sent my mom a text message to let her know, since I’ve known this girl since I could barely go to the bathroom on my own.

And I thought someone else had gotten me too – more specifically, I was sure that the price tag of the Alexander McQueen Leather Woven Wishbone Shopper had to be some sort of ridiculous joke. Because it’s a pretty cool-looking bag, and I had initially wanted to write that I liked the hardware and the woven-ness mixed with the non-woven-ness, and that I wasn’t sure about the fringe, but I was willing to give it a shot since it all looked sort of edgy and cool mixed together. That’s what I was GOING to write. Before I saw the price. Because for the $6,380 that McQueen wants for this bag, I could buy 4 or 5 other really cool bags, so nevermind. For that, I can basically buy a Birkin. At least a basic one. This bag may be cool, but it’s not six-and-a-half-grand cool. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $6380.

Your Own Hermes Kelly

Find a new feature on the Hermes US web site, called Les Ailes d’Hermes, the wings of Hermes. The animated micro site allows you to discover and travel the world of Hermes. You learn about the origins of box calf, the complex coloring of their iconic scarves, you see a glove crafter work the smooth leather, there’s mini-games and much more. The part that transformed me back to being a 6 year old was I want it, I’ll have it feature. It allows you to pick between 8 different Kelly motifs, download it as a PDF, print it at home and assemble your own mini-Kelly. How fun. If it only wasn’t for me being entirely finger challenged when it comes to fine crafting. Paper is quite delicate, which I learned the hard way. On my first attempt I miserably failed to follow the primitive instructions, folding where I was supposed to cut and vice versa. Eventually, I got her done and the result is displayed above. Click the thumb to enlarge the image. Good job me? A new sense of accomplishment fills my life.

LADY GAGA IMPLEMENTS THE STUD TREND ON HER HERMES BIRKIN

I have decided that Lady Gaga performs makeovers on her Hermes Birkins just for us. She wants the handbag lovers of the world to get a rise out of what she is doing to her bag. And how can you not? Her last Hermes Birkin was taken over by what looked like a Sharpie marker with amessage to her Japanese fans.
