In the year of 2009, Chanel has released its Cruise 2009/10 Handbag collection with a lot of splendid handbags with. Maybe you have seen some of them in TV or in person carried by others. Here fortunately I’ve got and would like to share with you the complete range show of this collection. There are totally 11 handbags in this set, which are made from different materials in various colors and shapes. What is the same is that all of them are with great charm.

This Classic quilted flap bag in tweed cotton fabric is touchable and elegant. It’s a great choice for noble office lady. The bag features leather-interlaced chain and CC turn-lock.

It is lethally chic, totally endearing and yet interesting. Only 2,500 of these limited-edition delights, which launch at Neiman Marcus next month, were made. Each Karl bear costs $1,500, which is as expensive as any Chanel handbag. But this teddy bear, wearing sunglasses and skinny lacquered jeans, I suppose, is more worthful to be collected and treasured up. As this teddy bear was released last year, I think it’s impossible to get one in the market. If only I can touch and hug it one day!

CHANEL SPRING/SUMMER ESSENTIAL HANDBAG

In general, I’m an enormous fan of everyday objects turned into art objects. Celebrating the beauty in everyday, functional things is a worthwhile pursuit; the design equivalent to “stopping to smell the roses.” And perhaps if we begin to blur the line between beautiful things and functional things, we would end up with more things that are BOTH beautiful and functional, and then we all win. Taking pleasure in the everyday is nothing to sneeze at, after all.

Chanel’s contribution to this idea is their Spring/Summer Essential Handbag. Modeled after the iconic shopping bags of their 31, Rue Cambon flagship location in Paris, the bags are produced in smooth calfskin in Chanel’s signature palette of black, white and pale pink. They come in three sizes – small for $1525, which is the only of the three available pale pink, medium for $2625, and large in $2995. From the information that we received from Chanel, it’s unclear whether the small is also available in white and black – if you’re interested, a call to your local boutique may be warranted.

On to the real question – do these bags achieve their design goals? My answer is a qualified yes – they are, after all, remarkably accurate leather reproductions. It’s certainly not an easy task to get a piece of leather that large to be that smooth and also have the crisp corners and creasing of a thick-paper shopping bag, and the bag accomplishes that quite well. In fact, from a distance, I probably wouldn’t realize that it wasn’t an actual shopping bag because the leather is very matte. I can’t tell from the pictures, but there are indications at the side gussets that it may also collapse like a shopping bag, which would be kind of a cool trick for storage, even if it would probably leave an unsightly crease in the leather. It also may have some kind of rigid structural surface over which the leather is stretched in order to create the extremely flat front and back panels, but only a hands-on inspection will tell.

Structurally and design-wise, I have no problem with the Chanel Essential bag, but I do have a problem with the timing of its release. In an economic climate where women shopping at Hermes have been said to be asking for plain white shopping bags in order to hide the perceived vulgarity of their luxury purchases, is a handbag that proudly announces, in bold block print, just how much money was spent on it a wise choice? Probably not. Logo bags have been losing popularity for more than a few seasons now, and this is probably the most obvious logo on the face of the planet. Krazypants Lagerfeld would not deign to have interest in how the other half lives, but handbags, second to only perfume and cosmetics, are essential to how a brand introduces itself to a larger audience. The potential market for a handbags is much larger than the audience for a ready-to-wear dress or even one of Chanel’s iconic boucle suits, and choosing a measure of vulgarity at this moment, even if it’s intentional vulgarity (which appears to be at least part of the point with this design), could potentially alienate customers. Spending $3000 on a handbags is impossible for an ever-increasing number of women, and the idea that you should spend that much on something that looks just like an item that is normally free may rub some people the wrong way.

Even at a dramatically different price point, this bag may have been a real hit. I could see my own reaction to it being slightly different if all the models were placed from, say, $1000 to $1500 (the bag is very, very simple, after all). In that price range, it would be a fitting introduction into the brand’s style for new or younger customers and a winking reference to their own branding. As it is, the bag’s release is just kind of baffling.

Hmmmm. I don’t know if I would have ever expected to see a Chanel bag at the Cochella Music Festivalin Indio, CA. As much as I love Chanel, I just don’t think I could take one to some crowded festival with all sorts of adult beverages being consumed. I’d be pretty bummed if anything spilled on it.

Apparently that’s not something our girl Whitney Port has to worry about. The Hills turned The Citystar was spotted at the super popular music festival toting a Chanel Classic Flap while showing off some skin. I realize she has legs that go on for miles, but for some reason I don’t think this particular pair of shorts is as flattering as something else could be.

So many designers have been “inspired” by the flap – if you’re going to pay big bucks, get the original: Everyone from Urban Outfitters to Marc Jacobs has been accused of stealing from Chanel’s signature bag, and there’s a good reason for that – it’s timeless, iconic and still as relevant to luxury customers today as it was back in the 1950s. Chain straps and quilted leather have become nearly synonymous with the idea of the designer handbag, and the Chanel flap may even be more well-known across the world than the illustrious handbag holy grail, the Hermes Birkin.

4. Buy a flap bag in caviar leather and it will likely outlive me and you both: Seriously, that stuff is indestructible. Run your fingers – no, better yet, run your fingernails along it next time you’re near a Chanel bag made of the material, and you’ll see what I mean. It has a finish nearly as tough as Louis Vuitton monogram canvas, but you’re paying for actual leather instead of, well, canvas. Despite their cultural ubiquity, the bags themselves are still too price-prohibitive for everyone to own: They come in sizes ranging from XS to XL, but even the smallest of the Chanel flap bags is way more expensive than the average woman wants to spend. Chanel Handbags: What would we do without Karl Lagerfield?

Recently, rumors were circulating about Karl Lagerfeld retiring from his post as head designer for Chanel. Well, thankfully, those rumors have been dispelled as false by the fashion house. As a huge fan of Lagerfeld’s Chanel handbags, I couldn’t be more pleased to hear that this gossip was unfounded. According to a Chanel representative, “Karl Lagerfeld is the creative designer of Chanel and has a long-term contract with the company. Replacing him is not an issue.” Thank God! He’s one of the most important designers of the 20th and early 21st century. And although he’s getting a little old, I’m sure he has a hell of a lot more to offer—and the 2010 replica Chanel handbag collections are proof of that.
